Welcome to Mrs.Stahl's web page on the SchoolWires portal!
By way of introduction, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a life-long resident of the Ligonier area and a graduate of LVHS. While pursuing my undergraduate degree in English at Seton Hill College, I worked as a clerical aide at both the high school and at the middle school. I left that position to complete my student teaching practicum at Greater Latrobe Junior High School. I graduated cum laude from Seton Hill and began my teaching career.
I was hired as a junior high English teacher at West End Catholic School in Johnstown. While there, I taught art, computer, English, reading, and library skills while attending graduate classes at Seton Hill. In 2003, I received a Master's degree in Special Education from that university. In the meantime, I was asked to assume a stronger leadership role at WECS when I was offered the job as principal. I held that position for 2 years, from 2002 through July of 2004.
I not only advocate for life-long learning, I LIVE life-long learning! I have completed a Master's in Reading program from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and I belong to the International Reading Association. Membership in this organization allows me to stay up-to-date with current research about teaching reading.
I am very pleased to have the opportunity to teach in the Ligonier Valley School District! There is a special honor--and sense of duty--attached to teaching in your home district.
